A networking and business development specialist has pledged its support for the Buy North East Campaign and is encouraging local firms to establish long-term working relationships between North-east firms.
Aberdeen Business Network (ABN), which hosts monthly networking and business skills development events at various venues across the city, has signed up to the campaign being run by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and The Press and Journal.
Andrew Smith, director of ABN, said: “We’re proud to have signed up to Buy North East; a campaign which aims to put the issue of local procurement firmly onto the regional business agenda.
“The prime focus of ABN is to facilitate the establishment of relationships between companies across Aberdeen City and Shire which eventually lead to local business transactions being made.
“Our local economy is going through a challenging period and initiatives such as Buy North East - as well as many other great new businesses and collaborations - can only help.
“We can try to find a positive way forward on our own or we can work together and get there more quickly. We find that an easy choice to make.”
ABN also runs Aberdeen’s online business community, ABNCommunity.com, with more than 5,900 members from the local area registered. The platform provides users with the opportunity to meet potential new clients, swap contact details, follow up on connections made at offline networking events and win business.
More than £11 million worth of business has been won by local members since the launch of ABN in 2008 - a result of the strong connections established through online and offline networking.
