Aberdeen-based public relations firm Granite PR has been named as a finalist in the prestigious 2015 Scottish Event Awards.
The company has been shortlisted in the Best International Event category for the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway, a transatlantic business event which aims to strengthen links between these two key global energy hubs. The Scottish Event Awards are hosted by The Drum and held in association with EventScotland.
The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway was created by Granite PR in 2013 and took place for the third time in 2015, having evolved from a two-hour lunch to a week-long initiative focusing on the key sectors of energy, health, education and professional services.
Knowledge sharing was maximised thanks to a visiting delegation representing the Houston business community, led by the British Consul General in Houston Andrew Millar, to create face-to-face opportunities as a method of creating and growing stronger business links. The highlight of the week was a flagship lunch for 200 at the city’s Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel during which an impressive line-up of speakers from both cities imparted knowledge and shared experience.
Commenting on reaching the finals of the 2015 Scottish Event Awards, Granite PR Founder and Managing Director Brett Jackson said: “Just two years after we opened in Houston, we are delighted to reach the final stages of these important awards which celebrate the wealth and diversity of the Scottish events calendar. The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway underlines the importance of looking for ways in which companies can work together and we are delighted to play a part in facilitating such collaborations.”
He added: “As well as spin off events such as a return delegation from Aberdeen to Houston later this year, plans are already in the pipeline for the 2016 Aberdeen-Houston Gateway – watch this space!”
