Aberdeen Asset Management employees donate their time to the Prince’s Trust Team Programme for the second year in a row.

A number of employees from Aberdeen Asset Management will help give disadvantaged young people the chance of a better future through a 12-week training course delivered by The Prince’s Trust Team Programme. The scheme provides personal development activities to those currently not in employment, education or training.

The 2015 session of the Team Programme had a significant impact on the lives of the young people who took part. Out of the ten students who completed the programme, all of them are either undertaking a programme organised by The Prince’s Trust, have secured employment or a place further education or training education,

This is the second year that Aberdeen Asset Management’s Charitable Foundation has sponsored the programme, which takes place in Wester Hailes in Edinburgh. Last year, four volunteers from Aberdeen Asset Management led a session on CV and interview techniques which was very well received and helped Team Programme students to update their CVs.

This year’s programme will involve new volunteers from Aberdeen Asset Management who will deliver sessions in money management, presentation, CV and interview skills, as well as providing ongoing support during the student’s community project.

Kerry Smith, Prince’s Trust team leader, explains: “We were thrilled to have volunteers from Aberdeen Asset Management help us out with our Team programme. Our students were all really happy with the interview workshops and the feedback they received throughout.

“Each of the volunteers involved thoroughly enjoyed their experience and had nothing but praise for the whole day. It was great to see them get so actively involved with all the students.

“Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time. We’re all now looking forward to welcoming a new set of volunteers from Aberdeen Asset Management for the 2016 programme.”

Christos Delivorias, a research analyst at Aberdeen Asset Management, was one the volunteers who took part in the 2015 programme. He said of his experience, “The whole workshop went very well and the four of us really enjoyed coaching the young people. It was a very rewarding experience and I’m glad I was able to give something back to the youngsters involved.”

Lynda Affleck of Aberdeen Asset Management’s Charitable Foundation said, “Developing and supporting young talent is of the utmost importance to Aberdeen Asset Management, both inside and outside our organisation. As well as the range of training and development programmes available for Aberdeen Asset Management employees, such as our graduate scheme and our emerging talent programme, we also support a variety of different charities which help young people to better their future.

“The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is a very worthy cause and one which Aberdeen Asset Management is proud to support. It allows us to support disadvantaged young people take their first steps into employment, education or training, and it also enables Aberdeen Asset Management employees get actively involved by volunteering their time and skills to young people who wish to better their lives.”
