Aberdeen Arts Centre is thrilled to be producing its first professional in-house show since 2019 with a production of Arnold Ridley’s ‘Easy Money’.
Staged as vintage radio play, the production will take to the stage in July 2021 with a cast of seven local professional actors. Following closure from March 2020 due to CV19, Aberdeen Arts Centre has adapted its 350 seat auditorium into 30 two-metre socially distanced ‘pods’ to safely seat up to 150 audience members. Aberdeen Arts Centre is committed to producing professional, accessible theatre for audiences in a safe and welcoming environment as other venues across Aberdeen city remain closed due to ongoing restrictions.
Stephanie Walls, Aberdeen Arts Centre’s manager, describes the play as “gentle and funny” and is certain the Castlegate Arts Ltd production will make for a “lovely nostalgic night out” for local theatre-lovers.
She added: “After a difficult year and as Aberdeen Arts Centre starts to welcome socially distanced audiences back to the theatre, I wanted to put something on that was a piece of fluffy, light entertainment to give people a couple of hours of escapism. The show will be performed in a vintage radio studio style, with the actors in full costume. There will be a lot of silly humour including multi-rolling and sound effects live on stage.”
Aberdeen Arts Centre’s production company Castlegate Arts Ltd past productions include Cabaret (2016) with Lucas Rush and Carolyn Maitland, The Pillowman (2017), Company (2018) with Oliver Savile and Ashleigh Gray and 2019’s Aladdin in association with Talegate Theatre Production
