8848 Restaurant to exhibit at food festival

Aberdeen’s 8848 Restaurant will showcase its high quality Indian and Nepalese cuisine at a major food and drink fair next month.

The award-winning Union Street-based restaurant will be among the exhibitors at the annual 17th Taste of Grampian festival.

The event, which is being held between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Saturday, June 4 at the Thainstone Centre near Inverurie, allows festival goers the chance to sample the finest food and drink the region has to offer.

8848 is exhibiting at stand 201, and will be offering a number of dishes from its menus which are crafted to reflect authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine using locally sourced produce.

Krish Bhetuwal, director at 8848, said: “We’re thoroughly looking forward to the Taste of Grampian festival. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate to the public our vast range of dishes, as well as network with other businesses from the local area.”

In addition to offering samples of its food, 8848 will be selling vouchers at discounted prices as well as offering recipe tips and advice to festival goers.

8848 recently tasted national awards success as it won the Best of Aberdeen accolade at the Scottish Curry Awards as well as being named runner up in the Best Indian Restaurant category at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.

The restaurant opened its doors in Aberdeen in January 2015 and offers an extensive menu of traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine with produce sourced from local suppliers across the region.

The city centre-based eatery can seat up to 75 people in its main dining area and can hold functions in a private area with a separate bar for up to 30 guests.

8848 is open 2pm until 10pm from Sundays to Thursdays and 2pm until 10.30pm from Fridays to Mondays. Lunch, à la carte and all-day tapas menus are available.
