An Aberdeen Indian and Nepalese restaurant has signed up to the Buy North East campaign and is eager to hear from those who can add to its list of local suppliers.
The owners of 8848 Restaurant, located on Union Street, says it firmly believes in supporting firms in the area, and as a local business itself, it relies upon the support of the people within its community.
Krish Bhetuwal, director at 8848, said: “We’re delighted to have signed up to the Buy North East campaign being run by Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and The Press and Journal.
“It’s a fantastic idea to encourage businesses across our region to consider using local suppliers, thus developing new working relationships and helping to boost our economy.
“We source our fresh fish, meat and fruit and vegetables from businesses within Aberdeen City and Shire and we are proud to call those firms valued partners of 8848 as they help to ensure we offer the highest quality produce to our customers every day.”
Despite its main suppliers already coming from the local area, 8848 is keen to explore possibilities where it could develop new partnerships with other north east firms.
“As with most restaurants, we must visit wholesalers for some items and our drinks are sourced from a national supplier,” added Krish.
“We are, however, always keen to meet with people and discuss with them how we can work together to the benefit of each other and for the benefit of our region, and we will continue to look for ways to buy within the north-east.”
8848 recently tasted national awards success as it won the Best of Aberdeen accolade at the Scottish Curry Awards as well as being named runner up in the Best Indian Restaurant category at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The restaurant opened its doors in Aberdeen in January 2015 and offers an extensive menu of traditional Indian and Nepalese cuisine.
The city centre-based eatery can seat up to 75 people in its main dining area and can hold functions in a private area with a separate bar for up to 30 guests.
