A leading north-east cancer support charity is urgently looking for volunteers to help with one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.
CLAN Cancer Support’s annual Landmark Walk, sponsored by Bond Dickinson, is set to return on September 27 and will feature two routes of either 13 or 7.8 miles, taking in a variety of prominent sights throughout the city.
The event depends on the help of volunteers and the charity is still looking to boost its marshal total by 80 for the walk to take place.
Three hundred marshals are required on the day itself to provide support in an array of roles from handing out water to manning junction points and giving out medals and goody bags.
Walkers have been quick to sign-up to take part on the day, with registration still open for those looking to support the charity. All funds raised from the day go towards CLAN’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer throughout the north and north-east of Scotland.
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “Like the majority of our events, the Landmark Walk relies on the generous help from our loyal band of supporters and we’re still looking to boost our marshal total by about 80 for the day itself.
“The marshalling is done in shifts so even if you could only give up a couple of hours of your time on the Sunday, it would make a massive difference to the organisation of the walk and would really give it the best chance of being the biggest and best one that we’ve held to date.
“I can’t thank those enough who have already committed their support to the day but if you, or you know anyone, who is looking to give something back to charity then we’d be thrilled to hear from you.
“Walker sign-ups have been steadily increasing throughout the last few weeks and we’re looking forward to what should be another fantastic, family fun-filled day.”
