Cala Homes has started work on its latest multimillion-pound development in Inverurie, bringing high-quality new homes to one of Aberdeenshire’s most sought-after locations.

The housebuilder is creating 95 new properties at Conglass following the sell-out success of a neighbouring project in 2021.

The development – which is located within easy reach of Inverurie town centre – is expected to support 190 local construction jobs, alongside a further 140 roles in the wider supply chain.

The project was approved by councillors last year and will have almost 25,000 square metres of open space, which will account for over 40% of the site.

The new development offers a mix of homes to suit a variety of buyers, from first-time homeowners to growing families and downsizers.

Once completed, it will comprise a mix of four and five bedroom homes, alongside the 24 new affordable homes.

Ross Maclennan, Land Director at Cala Homes (North), said: We are thrilled to begin work on this exciting new development in Inverurie. This area has long been a desirable location due to its excellent transport links, strong community feel, and access to outstanding local amenities.

“At Cala Homes we are passionate about community and have engaged in consultations with local stakeholders throughout the planning process to ensure this development meets the aspirations and needs of local people.

“This collaborative approach has informed various aspects of the project, from architectural design to the enhancement of local infrastructure, aiming to create a development that complements and enhances the existing character of Inverurie.

“We are committed to delivering high-quality homes that will complement the existing surroundings and provide a fantastic place to live.”

The development will not only provide new homes but also contribute to the enhancement of local infrastructure and amenities. Plans include the creation of pedestrian pathways, cycle routes, and landscaped communal areas that encourage outdoor activities and foster community interaction.

The first homes at the Inverurie development are expected to be released for sale later this year, with interested buyers encouraged to register their interest early.

Conglass is one of six North-east sites the company will build out in 2025, supporting more than 1,000 jobs across the region.

It has also started work on 383 homes across sites at Oldfold Village in Milltimber (92 homes), Craibstone (80 homes), Upper Lochton in Banchory (68 homes), and Grandhome (76 homes) and Silverburn (67 homes) in the Bridge of Don.

All of the developments will benefit from Cala’s Community Pledge initiative, where the housebuilder aims to give back to the communities in which it builds in informed, meaningful, and impactful ways.

Ross Maclennan added: “We are pleased to be developing these vibrant communities and are looking to invest further in the region.

“We’re on the lookout for exciting land opportunities to transform new sites into our exacting standards of high-quality homes. By proactively purchasing land in the North-east, we can continue to deliver thriving, sustainable new communities that highlight the very best in living that Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire can offer.”
