£1,655 funding boost to charity Sue Ryder

A series of ladies networking lunches held during the year have netted national charity Sue Ryder a £1,655 donation from Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management.

Handed over by Shona MacAskill, a chartered financial planner at the firm, the money was raised from the lunches held at Malmaison Hotel in Aberdeen. Every year a local charity is selected as the affiliated charity partner by Shona and 100% of the proceeds raised are donated to the charity.

She said: “I am delighted to aid a charity like Sue Ryder in this local initiative, supporting people through a most difficult time in their lives. I would like to thank the generosity of the ladies who have come along to my networking lunches throughout 2018 and have helped to raise such a fantastic amount."

Rebecca Buchan, community and corporate fundraiser of Sue Ryder Dee View Court said: "Dee View Court is the only purpose-built specialist neurological care centre in Scotland and because of the ongoing demand for our care - particularly in the North-east - we launched an appeal last year to raise £3.9m to create 20 new bedrooms at the centre.

“We are so delighted to be the recipient of donations from the ladies networking lunches, organised and hosted by Shona MacAskill of Gary Walker & Co Wealth Management. Not only have the lunches raised an incredible £1,655 over the course of the year, but they have provided us with a platform to talk about our cause and the work we do. The connections we have made during this time have also been hugely valuable to us and we are incredibly grateful; thank you.”
