When people turn to AI to support their job application it’s usually because they:

- Have writer’s block and don’t know how to convincingly showcase their aptitude for the job.

- Don’t have confidence in their writing and assume technology will produce something more professional / credible / effective than they ever could.

- Are looking for a short-cut, time is precious, right?

There’s nothing wrong with using AI tools such as ChatGPT as a starting point but the quality of the generated content depends on using the most effective prompts, and it’s essential you review and personalise what’s produced so that it accurately represents your skills, experiences, and personality.

Let me illustrate.

Using my own CV and a made-up job vacancy, I prompted Chat GPT to create a cover letter for me. I’ve created a short document to share:

- The prompts I used.

- The red flags I identified as a recruiter.

- How I added the personal touch, to create a cover letter that stands out for all the right reasons.

If you’d like a copy message me on thobbs@tmmrecruitment.com, citing in the subject line Three ChatGPT Prompts.

Hope you find it useful.
