In a family business, you take everything personally. When things are going well, there’s a personal desire to keep pushing to make things even better.

If things take a turn for the worse or you hit the inevitable snag, there’s an in-built determination and resolve to dig deep and sort it.

Since taking over the reins of Goldstar from Dad several years ago, Rachel and I have led a fantastic team in steadily developing and diversifying our business to meet the ever-evolving needs of our clients. We are always looking for new opportunities to expand and innovate and, despite the many challenges we face along the way, we have never lost sight of our goal to deliver the best service in our industry.

Which makes it all the more sweet to have had the three generations of our family together to see Goldstar win the Best Large Business in The Trades Awards 2024.

For Mum, Dad and our daughter Simone to be part of the sheer joy and celebration of winning the award for the THIRD time was just so special and so fitting. (Our son Josh is just as supportive but still too young to attend an awards dinner!) I’m really quite humble and always proud to say where we came from. I’m proud of my Dad and grateful for his vision - 45 years ago - to start and build the early foundations of Goldstar; and to both he and Mum for their support through the years.

Anyone that knows Goldstar will understand that Rachel and I lead from the front. We never ask anyone to do something that we haven’t done ourselves. Our managers, supervisors and operatives have grown in an environment where hard work, dedication, and a relentless focus on delivering for our clients, is the standard.

There’s an enduring passion in our family business that I believe is second to none. To me, winning the treble in the face of such impressive competition is recognition of that passion and what it brings to our clients. I am incredibly proud of our team. This award is for them.
