In 2013, we took a significant step towards expanding our footprint across Scotland by acquiring Alba Laundry in Inverness. This acquisition was part of a strategic plan to serve the entire Scottish region. Alba Laundry brought with it a legacy of excellent service in the Highlands, further enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive laundry solutions to a broader audience.
Innovation and Growth: Cathkin Clean
The acquisition of Cathkin Clean in 2018 marked another milestone in our growth. The story of Cathkin Clean dates back to the 1890s when it was founded by Giffen and Bissett in Rutherglen. Known for its specialised laundry services and customer-centric approach, Cathkin Clean quickly became a trusted name.
Despite facing challenges in the 1990s with the industry's shift towards linen rental services, Cathkin Clean demonstrated resilience by relocating to East Kilbride and continuing to innovate with modern technology and sustainable practices. We recognised this potential and brought Cathkin Clean under our umbrella, strengthening its position in niche markets such as local government, defence, healthcare, and transport.
Present Day: A Unified Brand
Today, we operate five sites across Scotland, all unified under the Aberdeen Laundry Services brand. Each acquisition has contributed to the company's ability to offer a wide range of services and cater to diverse customer needs.
