I first thought of the SanSooz business idea back in 2010.
My vision was simple, to ensure everyone on our roads would always be safe, seen and stylish.
The idea however was put on hold so I could focus on developing my education within the fashion industry and so I attended Robert Gordon University to study Surface and Textile Design.
After graduating with a BA Honours Degree I developed a career in lecturing at North East Scotland College.
Despite loving my job, I couldn’t escape the ongoing tragedies on our roads which lead to my reconsidering my future in order to make a difference.
As an expert in fabric and fashion I made it my mission to discover a solution that provided essential protection without hindering personal sense of style.
I got to work developing my exquisite designs and combining these with breakthrough fashion technology.
This combination transforms the way we regard clothing that offers vital protection on dark and dangerous roads.
SanSooz products aim to fill the current gap in the market by merging the desire for stylish clothing and the need to be seen in the dark.
The SanSooz process incorporates reflective elements into the design of each product, these elements become highly visible at night once subjected to direct light i.e car headlights.
We call it Seen at Night Technology (SAN).
After finalising my ideas and establishing a concept range which I could be proud of, I took it upon myself to enter the UK’s biggest business competition, “The Pitch.”
I was very happy to make it to the final and was voted one of the UK’s top 10 pre-trading businesses.
This competition gave me increased motivation to go on and further SanSooz as a company.
The competition was the pinnacle point in my career, where I realised the true potential of my products.
Initially I set out to produce a range aimed just for children however I soon realised that SanSooz had the potential for so much more.
I focused my energy and motivational drive to create product concepts which could branch out to numerous markets such as cyclists, joggers and those who commute daily.
So where is SanSooz now?
The company has come a long way since the initial designs at my kitchen table and I am currently preparing for the SanSooz Crowdfunding campaign, launching March 31.
I hope that the success of the Crowfunding campaign will provide much needed funds for volume production.
I aim to get my brilliant products to you as soon as possible as I want the nation to be safe, be seen and be stylish with SanSooz reflective clothing.
