Looking for motivated, enthusiastic and bright employees?

HERE at RGU, our courses focus on preparing students for the world of work.

It's one of the reasons Robert Gordon University is consistently ranked as one of the top five UK universities for graduate employment.

Right now, we are looking for employers interested in taking part in our 2016/17 Placement Programme, specifically for our students studying:

  • BA(Hons) Law and Management;
  • BA(Hons) Management; Management with HR;
  • Management with Marketing;
  • International Business Management, and
  • BA(Hons) Accounting and Finance

We are, however, acutely aware of the challenging times Aberdeen is facing, due primarily to the ongoing issues concerning the oil & gas sector.

This has inevitably had a knock-on effect on recruitment in all sectors, and we are struggling to source local companies to work with.

In the first instance I wanted to tell you a little bit more about our placement programme, in the hope that you may be in a position to host one of our students.

We believe it is a win-win opportunity for students and employers.

For our students, it’s an invaluable chance to gain real life experience in their chosen area of study, and for local employers, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get motivated, enthusiastic, affordable and bright students in to share their skills and knowledge.

We are currently recruiting for our students who have to undertake a year-long placement on the managementsSuite of courses listed above, and the Accounting and Finance course.

These students can start their placement as early as end of May 2016 and must complete a minimum of 48 weeks before returning to university in September 2017.

Essentially, during the 48-week period, our students have to complete a full time hours, paid position within an organisation and the role should be aligned to the student’s coursework.

Although we don’t get involved in placement wages, the average wage earned by students on placement is in the region of £10k-£16k per annum.

The learning experience that a placement will offer a student however can often outweigh the monetary reward.

Our Law and Management students are slightly different in that they can undertake a placement lasting from four weeks to a maximum of 16 weeks - anything under 12 weeks does not have to be paid.

These students can undertake placement from May onwards.

Because placement is an assessed academic module and is a mandatory element of the course, we require a Placement Supervisor to be assigned to the student to support/mentor and complete the mandatory placement assessment documentation to be completed during placement.

We also require evidence of Health and Safety Policy/Employers Liability Insurance.

If you would be interested in hosting a placement student from any of these courses, we would require a brief job description with a little information about the company and details on how to apply to your role.

We are always keen to develop new relationships with employers and would be delighted if you were in a position to assist us in this matter.
