National Work Life Week is an opportune moment to reflect on the importance of wellbeing at work and the impact of a healthy work-life balance.
At Tidy Green Clean, we recognise that a supportive workplace culture is essential not just for the wellbeing of our employees but also for the overall success of our business. This year, we’re proud to highlight our commitment to flexible working patterns that prioritise the health and happiness of our team members.
Flexibility at Its Best
In today’s fast-paced world, finding the right balance between work and personal life can be challenging. That’s why TGC offers flexible working arrangements to accommodate the diverse needs of our staff. We understand that each employee has unique commitments and responsibilities, which is why we provide the option of a 30-hour workweek for those who prefer it. This flexibility empowers our team to manage their time effectively, ensuring they can fulfil both professional and personal obligations without feeling overwhelmed. This flexibility has been a major factor in our 94% staff retention rate—remarkable in an industry where annual attrition can reach as high as 200%.
A Commitment to Fair Employment
At Tidy Green Clean, we believe paying the real Living Wage is key to our high retention rates. Many of our employees earn above the Living Wage, even when it's not mandated by contract. We also reward length of service with higher pay, particularly for those in supervisory or key positions. In addition to competitive wages, we offer a range of benefits to support our employees' financial wellbeing. If a staff member needs an advance on their pay, we provide it, reducing the stress of managing everyday financial concerns.
Unlike many companies, we do not utilise zero-hour contracts. We believe in offering our employees stability and predictability in their work schedules. Our team members receive their work schedules at least four weeks in advance, allowing them to plan their personal lives with confidence. This level of transparency not only fosters trust but also contributes to a positive work environment where employees feel valued and respected.
Positive Outcomes
Our commitment to flexible working patterns has led to exceptional employee retention rates. When employees feel supported in managing their work and personal lives, they are more likely to remain engaged and loyal to the company. A healthy work-life balance is linked to increased productivity, creativity, and overall job satisfaction, all of which contribute to a thriving workplace culture.
Join Us in Celebrating Wellbeing
As National Work Life Week approaches, we encourage other businesses to reflect on their policies and consider how they can enhance employee wellbeing. At Tidy Green Clean, we are proud to lead by example, prioritising the health and happiness of our team members. A happy workforce is a productive workforce, and we are dedicated to creating an environment where our employees can thrive both at work and in their personal lives.
Let’s continue to promote a culture of wellbeing and support one another in achieving a harmonious work-life balance. Happy National Work Life Week!
