This month sees the return of Brodies’ BInformed programme, a series of free seminars aiming to share our knowledge more widely than ever before.
Now in its tenth year, leading lawyers from across different departments in the firm will be running sessions from our new office in Aberdeen designed to provide relevant and practical advice for businesses and individuals operating in a whole range of sectors.
There will be 13 events taking place in all between October 27 and November 24 covering a range of issues, from performance management and obtaining debt finance, to family business succession and real estate trends.
Each session will provide an update on recent legal developments, and predictions as to what you can expect next in the fast-moving world of law.
As head of the family law team at Brodies, I’ll be offering advice on separation and divorce, and how you can make the process as smooth as possible.
It is a common misconception that separation and divorce lawyers relish conflict as it can see their fees climb exponentially.
However, nothing could be further from the truth.
An acrimonious divorce can have a hugely negative impact, not only on the individuals involved, but also on family and friends.
This is of course in addition to the huge impact it can have on your finances.
At Brodies we know that it is possible for couples to divorce on amicable terms despite the breakdown of their marriage or partnership.
That is why we always do everything we can to explore strategies that will maintain civility and a constructive dialogue throughout divorce proceedings, including mediation, collaborative law, arbitration and interest-based negotiation.
In my seminar I’ll be exploring all of these options and how they can play a part in having "the right kind of divorce".
So feel free to join me at our Aberdeen office at 31-33 Union Grove on October 27 by signing up online, and use our hashtag #BInformed to pose questions before each seminar, and to give us your thoughts and feedback after you attend.
