I’ve always felt that running a family business has pressures and expectations that are so different to those in the corporate world.
Both are driven to succeed professionally and commercially, but I believe the desire to deliver and exceed expectations in a family enterprise is the most deeply personal driver.
That can be a constant challenge which can take its toll on any individual and, at times, come at the expense of traditional family downtime and lifestyles.
However, the upside is the understanding and unwavering support that can be drawn from that strongest source: the family.
Rachel and I couldn’t have been more proud to have the charming company of our daughter, Simone, at Friday’s Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce #northernstarbusinessawards.
Together with my Mum, Jackie, whose pride in the business runs long and deep, we’re quite sure to have been the only finalist with three generations of the same family in attendance.
Since Rachel and I took over Goldstar from Dad several years ago, we have worked tirelessly with our team to move the business and our services to an entirely new level.
At all times, behind the scenes, has been our family, serving as a source of inspiration and pride, while keeping us rooted in perspective. We appreciate how precious that is…
Thank you, Simone, for all that you do; we are so proud of the wonderful woman that you are. Keep being you.
