A recent survey conducted by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce was carried out to gain insight into Circular North-east (CNE) engagement and to inform and shape the future direction of the CNE project and ongoing activity.
Overall the results show that awareness around the circular economy is increasing but confidence in applying it remains low.
Key highlights include:
- 59% of businesses had heard of the circular economy, up from 32% before the start of the programme
- 48% of those already adopting circular economy principles described 'cost savings' as one of the main benefits
- 36% cited a lack of information as a barrier to adopting circular economy principles
- Confidence in applying circular economy principles remains low at 14%
- A significant number of respondents wish to see more local businesses profiled
