An award-winning North-east family run business is launching a smoking hot foodie venture to showcase its farm-reared produce and pay homage to the North-east’s offshore industry.
The Store in Foveran, Aberdeenshire, has renovated an offshore container, transforming it into a specialist BBQ unit complete with charcoal grill, which will be launched on Saturday, May 21.
The business, which is run by fourth generation farmers and has its own on-site butchery, farm shop deli and coffee shop, prides itself on its Aberdeen Angus Beef.
The Farmer’s Grill will become the main kitchen seven days per week cooking up The Store’s award-winning, hand-reared Aberdeen Angus beef products including steaks, sausages, burgers and hotdogs as part of a new grill menu prepared by head chef, Tim Spooner.
The container is fitted with a handcrafted grill, which has been fabricated by Douglas Lawrie, before being transported to The Store, with a focus on linking the farm side of the business to the food being served on a daily basis.
Owner of The Store, Andrew Booth, said: “Our farm to fork ethos is extremely important and we have a strong vision of providing natural, high quality, local produce to our customers and are always looking at new and innovative ways to showcase our produce.
“As BBQ season was approaching, we felt that the grill would be the perfect way to cook our Aberdeen Angus beef, allowing customers to sample different cuts of meat at their best.”
Recognised for the superiority of its meat, The Store’s Aberdeen Angus beef, is 100% traceable due to the farm’s field to fork ethos, and is dry-aged on the bone at its on-site butchery for over 21 days, allowing the meat time to mature and develop rich, succulent flavours.
As part of the launch of the new Farmer’s Grill, The Store is kicking off its Foodie Fridays on May 27, showcasing local produce on the last Friday of each month.
The Store is open seven days a week from 10am – 5pm and has its own farm shop and deli, kitchen and coffee shop on-site. Tofind out more about The Store, call 01358 788083 or visit www.thestorecompany.co.uk
